California Lutheran University Selects New President

A South Coast University has announced the selection of a new President.  Lori Varlotta will become the eighth president of California Lutheran University

Varlotta will be the first female president in the more than six-decade-long history of the Thousand Oaks based university.

She’s currently the President of Hiram College in Ohio.

Varlotta served six years as Hiram’s president.  Before that, she was at Sacramento State for more than a decade in different capacities, including as a Senior Vice President.

Varlotta has had a more than three-decade-long career in higher education, and was selected following a nationwide search effort, and is set to take over her new post September 30.

She will take over for Chris Kimball, who is stepping down after 12 years as head of the university to return to teaching.
