A fire on Santa Cruz Island is now 80% contained

Containment is now up to 80% on a brush fire in the Channel Islands.  The 700 acre plus blaze has been burning since Sunday morning in Scorpion Valley, on Santa Cruz Island.  About 50 firefighters are fighting the brush fire.

On Sunday, air tankers and a helicopter were used to try to stop the fire, but National Park Service officials say they are no longer needed.

No structures have been damaged, and no injuries have been reported.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
