Ventura Set To Reopen City Beaches Friday For Sitting, Sunbathing

A South Coast city will allow people to sit and sunbathe on its beaches for the first time since the coronavirus crisis hit.

Ventura had permitted people to walk, run, swim, and surf on its beaches, but visitors couldn’t sit or sunbathe on them.

That changes starting Friday, as people will be able to bring a towel to the beach and relax on the sand, so long as they practice social distancing.

Ventura’s parks will also be reopened for sitting and sunbathing. Group activities like volleyball and soccer are still banned, and Ventura’s playgrounds and pools remain closed.

City officials say if specific beach areas or parks become overcrowded and people aren’t practicing social distancing, Ventura Police may have to close them.
