South Coast Music Academy Takes Some Summer Programs Online Because Of Coronavirus

A South Coast academy which has trained some of the world’s leading classical musicians is going to have to use distance learning for its 2020 summer session. The Music Academy of the West normally attracts more than 100 young musicians from around the world for its annual summer program. The musicians get to work with faculty members and guest artists.

Coronavirus concerns have prompted the Montecito based academy to move the program online. The summer program normally also includes a series of community concerts featuring the young musicians. There are plans to stream events like master classes.

Other traditional events like concerts at Santa Barbara’s Lobero and Granada Theaters in July and August are still up in the air because of social distancing concerns.
