Transient Arrested For Murder Of Ventura County Woman

A transient has been arrested for the murder of a Ventura County woman.

A woman was found unconscious on the 200 block of West Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard April 9th.  Police officer and paramedics discovered she had been stabbed.  Sibyl Woodbury died from her injuries.

Detectives say it was a difficult case, because they had little in the way of leads.  But, their investigation led them to a homeless man.  They say James Beam was a 23 year old transient who had recently come to the Oxnard area.

He was arrested this week on a murder charge.  There's no word on a possible motive for the killing of the 67 year old woman.
