Central, South Coasts Topping U.S. Census Response Rates

While the coronavirus crisis is everyone’s main focus right now, this is a big week for something else as well.  Wednesday is National Census Day.

So far, there’s been a national response rate of 36%.  The Central and South Coasts are doing better than the national average.

Ventura County is at a 40% response rate.  Santa Barbara County is at 38%, and San Luis Obispo County is at a nearly 39% response level.  If you haven’t responded yet, you can do it online.

The census is important because it determines things like how many seats each state has in the House of Representatives.  It’s used as a baseline for key government decisions like federal funding for public safety.
