Storm Brings More Than Two Inches Of Rain To Parts Of Central, South Coasts; More Expected This Week

A storm system brought up to two inches of badly needed rain to parts of the Central and South Coasts, with more rain expected later this week. No serious problems have been reported in the region’s brush fire burn zones.

Rainfall amounts varied widely in the region. In Ventura County, Ventura had a half inch of rain, while Moorpark had 1.1”. Simi Valley was one of the wettest communities, with 1.5” of rainfall.

In Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara had two thirds of an inch of rainfall. But, further west, Goleta recorded 1.2”. San Marcos Pass had some of the highest rainfall totals in the region, with 2.2”. And, Lake Cachuma got needed rainfall with 1.2” from the storm.

Another storm system is expected to arrive late Tuesday, but it will be much weaker. We could get a quarter to a half inch of rain before it moves out of the area Thursday.
