Coronavirus And Your Mental Health; South Coast Therapist Says Perspective And Not Panic Is Crucial

The coronavirus crisis has become a very stressful issue. Mental health experts on the Central and South Coasts say we need to stay informed, but also balance things out so we don’t become overwhelmed and even panicked. It’s hard to escape the subject of coronavirus. It’s saturating television and radio.

But, mental health experts say one of the keys to coping is keeping the situation in perspective. Suzanne Grimmesey is the Chief Quality Care and Strategy Officer for Santa Barbara County’s Department of Behaviorial Wellness.

Grimmesey says it’s especially important to help our children, and grandchildren from being overwhelmed.  Grimmesey says you should limit your media exposure to the subject, take care of your emotional health, and be aware of family and friends who may need help coping.
