A South Coast police department turned to its own ranks to find a new police chief. Ventura has promoted Assistant Police Chief Darin Schindler to Chief.
Schindler was born and raised in Ventura County. He began his career with the Port Hueneme Police Department in 1989. He joined the Ventura Police Department in 1995. Schindler has served the agency in a number of capacities, and was appointed Assistant Chief five years ago.
He fills the post created by the retirement of Ken Corney, who served as Ventura’s Police Chief for a decade.
