Election Day is at hand on the Central and South Coasts. Voters will be weighing in on everything from the presidential races to congressional to county supervisorial seats. Voters on the Central and South Coasts are also facing a number of local decisions, many related to schools and local government.
Las Virgenes School District voters will decide the fate of Measure E, a proposed $198 million dollar bond measure to repair and replace outdated school facilities. Moorpark voters are being asked to approve a $96 million dollar bond measure, Measure A, also intended to improve school infrastructure.
In Oxnard, voters will consider a proposal which would ban elected officials from accepting contributions from lobbyists and contractors. Measure B would also limit campaign contributions, and set term limits for city council members and the mayor.
Ojai voters will decide the fate of Measure C, which would boost the hotel tax for visitors from 10% to 15%, raising more than $1.3 million dollars annually for City of Ojai projects like street repair.
Santa Barbara County’s Hope Elementary School District has Measure J2020, a proposed 47 million dollar bond measure for infrastructure improvements.
And, the City of Lompoc is asking residents to approve a 1% sales tax increase, which would raise about $4.8 million dollars for everything from public safety to street repair.
