Authorities Investigating Light Plane Crash On Central Coast

(Santa Barbara County Fire Department photo)
A light plane flipped over while apparently trying to land in Santa Barbara County Saturday. No serious injuries were reported.

Authorities are still trying to figure out what led to a small plane crash on the Central Coast which left one person injured.

The plane went down Saturday morning in some rugged hills on the edge of the Santa Ynez Valley, in the Los Padres National Forest.

Santa Barbara County firefighters received word that a plane had gone down near Ogilvy Ranch, which is east of Lake Cachuma.  A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene.  The crew found the wreckage of the plane, which had apparently flipped during a landing attempt at a landing strip. But, there was no one at the crash scene.

The crew then flew to the ranch.  They found out that the injured pilot had been flown to a hospital by someone at the ranch for treatment of minor injuries.   Federal investigators are now trying to figure out what happened.
