Central Coast School Gets New Track And Field With Help Of Foundation

Something audacious is happening at a Central Coast elementary school. The Audacious Foundation teamed up with the Lompoc Unified School District to install a new track and field at Hapgood Elementary School.

Students had been unable to use the school’s fields due to a gopher infestation, which created a risk of injury for kids. The foundation covered half of the nearly $160,000 cost of a new track and gopher-proof field with the school district. The facility is available for use by the community during non-school hours.

The Santa Barbara based foundation focuses on non-academic projects to help low-income students in the region.
