Storm Drops Heavy Rain, With Minor Street Flooding; But, No Serious Issues In Brush Fire Burn Zones

Heavy rainfall caused some localized street flooding in Santa Barbara Wednesday night

The winter storm which brought some heavy rain, snow, and even a tornado warning to parts of the Central and South Coasts is moving out of our area. Rainfall amounts topped two inches on parts of the South Coast. San Marcos Pass had 1.6” of rain, and Carpinteria 1.5”. There was some street flooding in Santa Barbara Wednesday night, but no major problems were reported in the region’s brush fire burn zones.

At around 9 Wednesday night, a potentially strong thunderstorm prompted a tornado warning for the mountains of central Santa Barbara County, but National Weather Service meteorologists say it didn’t materialize.

Rainfall totals include 2” in Montecito, 1.5” in Oxnard, 2.1” in Thousand Oaks, and 1.2” in Solvang. We could see on and off showers through Wednesday evening, with clearing overnight.
