Los Padres National Forest Boosts Fire Restrictions Because Of Wildfire Threat

High wildfire danger due to the hot, dry conditions we’ve had lately have led to some new fire restrictions on the Los Padres National Forest. Wood and charcoal fires have been banned in all areas of the National Forest, including Campfire Use sites.

If you have a valid California Campfire Permit, you are allowed to use portable stoves and lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel in the Designated Campfire Use Sites. But, even with the permit you need to check because the portable stoves can only be used at certain campgrounds.

Smoking is banned in all areas of the National Forest except in an enclosed vehicle, building, or designated Campfire Use Site. The expanded fire restrictions are in effect through New Year’s Eve.
