A brush fire is burning out of control in Santa Barbara County between Gaviota and Goleta.  The fire is off of Highway 101, in the area of El Capitan State Beach. Some evacuations have been taking place in the El Capitan area. Strong wind is fueling the growth of the blaze.

About 50 acres of land has been burned by the fire, which was reported at around 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Aircraft have been called in to aid firefighters at the scene. The area is sparsely populated, but there are campgrounds in the area.

Highway 101 is being intermittently closed by the CHP in the area of the fire.  The blaze is about 10 miles west of Goleta.
