Power Shutoffs To Try To Prevent Brush Fires Impact Nearly 8,000 Ventura County Customers

More than 20,000 Southern California Edison customers are without electricity right now as the result of public safety power shutoffs. The largest number of customer affected by the shutoff effort to prevent brush fires is in Ventura County.

Edison officials say nearly 8,000 customers in the Camarillo, Fillmore, Santa Paula, Santa Susana, and Simi Valley areas are currently impacted by outages. There’s no word on when service will be resumed.

Edison officials caution that after a shutoff occurs, crews need to inspect power lines and equipment before re-energizing the system.
