Brush Fire Burns 5-10 Acres In Conejo Valley Mountains

(Ventura County Fire Department photo)
The Wendy Fire has burned 5-10 acres of brush south of Newbury Park as of 8 p.m. Thursday.

A brush fire has burned five to ten acres of brush in the hills south of Newbury Park Thursday night.

Ventura County firefighters say it's burning away from the community, but that a cultural city in the rural area may be threatened.  No evacuations have been ordered.

The blaze is in a rugged, hard to access area which is difficult for firefighters to reach at night.  They are using night flying water dropping helicopters from Ventura and Los Angeles Counties to battle the blaze.

The flames are visible from some parts of the Conejo Valley.
