Santa Barbara County's Top Elected Officials Could Get Raises

Santa Barbara County Supervisors are set to look at giving themselves raises.

The proposal calls for a 3% annual hike, plus some increases in benefits.

Because of the appearance of conflict of interest, years ago County Supervisors asked a citizens committee to come up with a plan.

They tied salary increases to hikes in the Consumer Price Index for the Los Angeles-Orange County metro area.  They also capped potential annual increases at 3%.

The proposal County Supervisors will look at when they meet Tuesday also calls for slight hikes for supervisors pensions, health care, and vehicle allowance.  If approved, the recommendations will cost the county about $11,000 for the rest of this fiscal year, and about $22,000 annually.
