Fashion Retailer Which Filed For Bankruptcy Has Some South Coast Stores On Closure List

A retailer catering to young women says as part of its bankruptcy reorganization, three of its South Coast stores could be on the chopping block. Forever 21’s bankruptcy filing this week says it could potentially close 179 of it 549 U.S. stores.

More than 40 stores are on the list in California, including locations at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks, the Pacific View Mall in Ventura, and on State Street in Santa Barbara. But, the filing notes some of the listed store could remain open if they are able to renegotiate their leases with more favorable terms.

Forever 21 has been hard hit by online shopping. The company is known for its trendy, low cost clothing targeting young women.
