An air tanker hit the McMurray Fire on the Central Coast Monday night

A 200 acre brush fire that threatened some ranches on the Central Coast, and closed part of Highway 101 is now 20% contained. The McMurray Fire started about 3:30 Monday afternoon, just off of the 101 between Highway 154, and 246.

It quickly spread, forcing the shutdown of the northbound 101 for about three hours. Some ranches northeast of Buellton were evacuated. But, firefighters and aircraft hit the fire hard.

By about 7 Monday night, they stopped the growth of the fire, and by sunset it was 20% contained. All evacuation orders were lifted last night. Firefighters are hoping to fully contain it Tuesday.
