Santa Barbara County Gets New Head Of Emergency Services

Santa Barbara County has selected a new executive for one of its most important appointed posts. Kelly Hubbard will be the county’s new Director of the Office of Emergency Management. Hubbard was the Emergency Manager for the Municipal Water District of Orange County for the last 15 years.

Hubbard takes over for Rob Lewin, who retired after three years leading the County Office of Emergency Management.

The position has been a key one for the county, with the person holding the post leading efforts to deal with disasters like the Thomas Fire, and the 1/9 Montecito debris flow.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
