A Ventura County couple is behind bars after detectives say they strangled a newborn boy, leading to his death. Oxnard Police were called to St. John’s Medical Center Friday morning by reports of a newborn infant in critical condition with what were called suspicious injuries. The infant died from the injuries.
Detectives from the Family Protection Unit arrested the baby’s mother, Andrea Torralba, and her boyfriend David Villa.
The two Oxnard residents were arrested for assault on a child by means of force resulting in the child’s death. Bail was set at a million dollars.
