Man Dead, CHP Officer Injured In Confrontation In Ventura County

A man is dead, and a CHP officer is recovering from injuries suffered in a confrontation in Ventura County.

It happened at around 6 Friday morning, on Highway 33 in Oak View.  An officer was called to investigate reports of a man on the roadway.

What exactly happened is still under investigation, but there was some type of physical confrontation which left the officer injured.  The officer opened fire, and the man was fatally wounded.  He died at the scene.

No one else was injured.  Neither the name of the man who died, or the officer have been released yet.
