Controlled Brush Burn Set For South Coast; Smoke, Firefighting Helicopters Could Be Visible

It’s not often you can predict a brush fire like a weather forecast, but there’s one expected Friday  in Ventura County. The Ventura County Fire Department has a controlled burn planned for the Conejo Valley. The planned burn will start in the Hidden Valley area at around 10 a.m., and last through late afternoon.

It’s a chance to safely remove thick vegetation which could fuel major future brush fires. Smoke could be visible throughout much of Ventura County. Firefighters will also use the planned burn as training. People may see firefighting helicopters in action dropping water as part of the drill.
