Caltrans Starts Repair Work On 18 South Coast Bridges

You may see a lot of repair projects underway on South Coast highway bridges during the next few weeks. Caltrans is starting work on 18 bridge projects on Highways 1, 23, 33, and 101 in Ventura County. Officials say the work is necessary to deal with damage and deterioration.

The construction will affect about five miles of highway in the county, with most of the projects focused on bridges in the Conejo Valley area. None of the bridges will be closed, but there could be lane closure at times.

Work is planned for daytime hours Tuesdays through Saturdays, with the projects expected to be completed by late October.  The work is being made possible by $1.2 million dollars in funding from the State Senate's SB 1 initiative, which increased the gas tax and certain vehicle related fees.
