Some Junior Lifeguard program supplies stolen, and recovered in Ventura Tuesday

A kids lifeguard program on the South Coast had a big scare, after someone stole a parked truck and trailer filled with its gear like surfboards. The theft was discovered at San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura at around 6:30 Tuesday morning.

Ventura Police, the CHP, State Parks rangers and the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force started a search of the area.

A Ventura Police patrol unit found the missing vehicles a short distance away, and the $50,000 worth of junior lifeguard equipment was recovered. The suspects are still at large.

The program serves about a thousand kids, and is getting ready to kick off its summer run in a few weeks.
