Drive To Help Feed Hungry On South Coast Reporting Big Numbers; 125,000 Pounds Of Food Collected

A national drive to help feed the hungry is reporting some big results locally. Thousands of residents on the Central and South Coasts contributed to the effort involving the National Association of Letter Carriers.

This month’s effort raised 125,000 pounds of food in Ventura County. The food collected from the public by the carriers went to FOOD Share of Ventura County, which helps feed some 75,000 people a month in the county.

Since the carriers teamed up with FOOD Share in Ventura County in 2010, the annual effort has raised about 1.2 million pounds of food.
