Man Enters Guilty Pleas To Murder, Attempted Murder In Ventura County

A man pled guilty to charges stemming from the murder of one person, and the attempted murder of a second in a domestic violence incident in Ventura County. Brandon Scott Ellis is expected to receive a 72 years to life sentence for the 2015 attacks in Ventura.

Prosecutors say Ellis was angry that his ex-girlfriend was dating someone else. They say Ellis went after the new boyfriend, but when the man’s father, Douglas Blasher, tried to intervene, he was shot to death.

Ellis then shot his ex-girlfriend nine times, but she survived the attack. He fled to Mexico, where he was arrested. He’s set to be sentenced next month.
