Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team members rescued three stranded hikers from the foothills abov e Montecito

Three young women are safe and sound after a hike in Santa Barbara County turned into a harrowing adventure. The three women were trying to hike to Tangerine Falls in the mountains above Montecito Friday afternoon when they took a wrong turn. They became stranded on the side of a cliff, some 300 feet above the ground.

The hikers were able to use a cell phone to call 911 for help. The Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team used GPS tracking software to find the stranded women. They were able to reach some rocks above the women, and set up a rope system so they could rapel down to safety.
