Co-Founder Of International Group Based In Santa Barbara Dedicated To Nuclear Disarmament To Retire
The co-founder of an internationally known peace group based in Santa Barbara has announced he will retire after nearly four decades at the helm.
David Krieger helped launch the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation in 1982. Krieger and the foundation have been nominated multiple times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Krieger will retire as the Foundation’s President at the end of the year.
The Foundation works for nuclear disarmament. It played a key role in the groundbreaking United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
The organization’s current Deputy Director, Rick Wayman, will step into the top post. Wayman has been with the Santa Barbara non-profit since 2007, and before that was part of a nuclear disarmament group based in the United Kingdom.
