Helicopter Crashes On South Coast, Starting Brush Fire; Pilot Injured

A helicopter crash in Ventura County Saturday left its pilot injured, and started a small brush fire.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a helicopter crash on the South Coast which left its pilot injured, and started a small brush fire. The small chopper went down near West Gonzales Road, and North Victoria Avenue in Oxnard just before 10 Saturday morning.

The pilot was able to get out of the damaged helicopter on his own before firefighters reached the scene. There was no one else on board. The helicopter was destroyed in the crash.

Firefighters from the Ventura County, City of Ventura, and Oxnard Fire Departments knocked down the small brush fire in a few minutes.
