New YMCA Opens In Conejo Valley

A new YMCA is now open in the Conejo Valley.

The Yarrow Family YMCA in Westlake Village on Thousand Oaks Boulevard officially opened over the weekend after 20 years of planning.

"For us, to bring a YMCA here and be able to actually give the community what we would like to say is the cornerstone of this community.  It's literally a gathering place for everyone to come, enjoy each other, get healthy and really mingle and be part of a new family.  So, we are really excited for everyone to join," says Ronnie Stone, the CEO of the Southwest Ventura YMCA.

The new 60,000-square-foot building features a fitness center, eight-lane indoor lap pool, gymnasium, indoor basketball court, meeting space and café.

It cost $65 million to build. Major donors include Dole Foods Chairman David Murdock who contributed $20 million and former Westlake Village mayor Doug Yarrow and wife Peggy who contributed $3.5 million.
