Woman Enters Guilty Plea To Ventura County Murder Staged To Look Like Drug Overdose

A Ventura County woman pled guilty to second degree murder to a killing during a burglary. In January of 2009, Idee Lee Scholz and Glenn Sires broke into a Simi Valley home in a burglary attempt. They encountered Janice Richardson, and smothered her. But, they staged the scene to look like a drug overdose.

Simi Valley Police later received information that Richardson had been murdered, leading to the duo.

Scholz entered a guilty plea this week to the killing, and the Simi Valley woman now faces a 15 years to life sentence.

Her co-defendant, Glenn Sires, was convicted of second degree murder last year, and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
