A Ventura County congresswoman introduced a bill intended to push transit systems around the country to move to zero emission vehicles. The bill by Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village would require all new busses purchased with federal funds by public agencies be zero emission by 2029.
California already has a law that all new busses in the state be zero emission by 2029.
Brownley says the transportation sector in America is responsible for nearly 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions, so the bus restrictions could have a significant impact.
