Traffic Collisions Across South And Central Coasts This Weekend Kill At Least Three People

A pair of traffic collisions over the weekend across the South and Central Coasts have claimed the lives of at least three people.

Captain Daniel Bertucelli with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said first responders arrived at the scene of a crash on Highway 166, east of Santa Maria near Rock Front Ranch, around 12:30 Saturday afternoon.

"Santa Barbara County Fire Department found a head-on collision with two cars suffering heavy damage. A total of five people were involved between the two cars," he said.

Bertucelli said two people in one vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Two people with serious injuries and one with moderate injuries in the other vehicle were extricated and rushed to hospitals.

In another fatal accident, Simi Valley Police said around 10:30 Saturday morning, a motorcycle collided with a sedan on the 2900 block of Texas Avenue. The motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old Jason Char, died in the crash.
