A UC Santa Barbara graduate has been appointed as the new president of the scandal ridden University of Southern California. USC Trustees announced Carol Folt will become the university’s 12th President. Folt was formerly chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She was known for her efforts to make UNC more accessible and affordable.
Folt attended Santa Barbara City College and then UCSB, earning ungraduate and graduate degrees.
USC was hit by controversy last year over the handling of sex abuse allegations against a former physician, and more recently by charges that staff members and students were involved in the national college admission scandal.
