Sinkhole danages highway in Ventura County, leading to lane closure

A sinkhole has developed next to a state highway in Ventura County following recent storms, closing one of its lanes indefinitely. The damage is on Highway 126 about a half mile east of Piru.

The highway’s eastbound right hand lane has been closed as a result of the damage. Caltrans officials say erosion around an old pipe under the highway led to the sinkhole.

One lane of Highway 126 has been closed in the area. There’s no word on how long it will take to repair the damage.
