A man arrested following a chase involving a stolen CHP car on the Central Coast is now a suspect in the murder of his pregnant girlfriend. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s detectives say CHP officers stopped to investigate an abandoned car on Highway 46 early Sunday morning.  The officers found two young children inside, but while doing that, someone drove away with the patrol vehicle.

Daniel Johnson was arrested after a chase. When detectives went to his Paso Robles home, they found the body of his girlfriend.

Carrington Jane Broussard had been stabbed multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and it was determined she was nine months pregnant. Investigators aren’t talking about a possible motive in the killing at this time.
