Interim Superintendent Named For South Coast Community College

A South Coast college announced the hiring of an interim Superintendent/President after its current leader unexpectedly announced plans to step down over health issues.

Santa Barbara City College trustees selected Dr. Helen Benjamin to fill the post on a temporary basis.

Benjamin has a more than four decade long career as an educator.  She was Chancellor of the Contra Costa Community College District when she retired in 2016.

Benjamin will temporarily fill the slot being vacated by Dr. Anthony Beebe.  He announced he will retire this summer after three years with the district so he can focus on dealing with his health problems.

Benjamin will serve as Superintendent/President while Santa Barbara City College goes through a public process to select a new leader.
