Long Awaited New Resort Opens On South Coast

It’s taken three owners, and nearly two decades, but it is opening weekend for a new high end resort on the South Coast. The Rosewood Miramar Beach has opened in Montecito. The 16 acre resort between the ocean, and Highway 101 sits on what was the site of the Miramar for more than 120 years.

The aging resort was closed in 2000, and after a long public review process, developer Rick Caruso received permits to build a new 161 room beachfront retreat on the site.

The new Miramar features two pools, 26 beachfront bungalows and rooms, seven restaurants and bars, and 27,000 square feet of event and meeting space.
