Hundreds of people said goodbye yesterday to a Ventura County Search and rescue team member who died while trying to help an accident victim. There were tears as people packed a Westlake Village church to honor Jeff Dye.

The search and rescue team volunteer was on a training mission February 2nd when they stumbled across a traffic accident on Interstate 5. As they tried to help the victim, the driver of another vehicle lost control of it in the wet weather. It slammed into the rescue workers, killing Dye and injuring several others.
