The first in a trio of storms to hit the Central and South Coasts brought more than two inches of rain to parts of the region Thursday, but fortunately no major flooding was reported. It was an impressive warmup act, with sometimes heavy rainfall, capped by lightning and thunder.
There was 2.2” of rain at KCLU’s tower on Gibraltar Peak above Montecito. Santa Barbara had two inches of rain, and Carpinteria an inch. Ventura and Oxnard each had about 1.2" of rainfall, while Agoura Hills had an inch.
Up next is the storm meteorologists think will be the biggest of the trio. The system will arrive late Friday night, and push through the South Coast Saturday morning. We could see one to three inches of rain on the coast and inland, and possibly up to five inches in some mountain areas. It could potentially be a concern for some brush fire burn areas.
The storm will clear Saturday night, with system number three bringing showers Sunday night and Monday morning.
