Ventura RV Park Flooded By Storm; 50 Evacuated

As the final in a series of three storms which swept through the Central and South Coasts hit the region this week, it led to the flooding of an RV park.

The Ventura River overflowed its banks in Ventura near the Pacific Ocean Thursday morning, prompting a quick, but organized evacuation effort to get people and RV's out of the floodpath.

Water surged into the east end of the Ventura Beach RV Resort, which is between Main Street and Highway 101.  Public safety officials helped about 50 people get out of the park safely.  Dozens of RV's and vehicles were also moved, but a few vehicles ended up partially submerged in the water.

The flooding also closed the Main Street on and offramps to Highway 101.

The Ventura River caused some minor flooding in Foster Park, between Ventura and Ojai off of Highway 33.

In Santa Barbara County, Gibraltar Reservoir filled with enough water from the recent storms that water went over its spillway for the first time in recent years.

Despite the heavy rainfall at times in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, no major problems were reported in the region's brush fire burn zones.
