More Details Released In Triple Murder In Santa Barbara County

We’re learning more about a triple murder that took place late last month in Santa Barbara County. Forty-three-year-old David Gerald McNabb is accused of killing his sister Nicole, mother Melanie and Carlos Echavarria at their Orcutt home before the suspect died in an officer-involved shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office now says two deputies fired six less-lethal munitions at David McNabb. But after the suspect pointed a rifle in their direction, deputies fired 23 rifle rounds at him.

They later found that David's rifle was unloaded, and it belonged to his late father.

An autopsy of David determined that he died as a result of multiple gunshot rounds. Toxicology results are pending.

A preliminary autopsy of the victims revealed that they did not suffer any gunshot injuries but instead died as a result of being stabbed or severely beaten.
