Storm System Arrives On Central, South Coasts; No Major Issues Expected In Burn Areas

A storm system has created some heavy rainfall on the Central Coast, but as of 11:30 p.m. Wednesday rainfall amounts were much lighter on the South Coasts.

Public safety officials have been keeping a close eye on the system because of concern about the potential for problems in the Thomas, Hill, and Woolsey brush fire burn areas.

Rainfall totals are expected to be in the quarter to three quarters of an inch range on the South Coast.

Meteorologists say they don’t expect the strong, concentrated rainfall from this system which could cause major flash flooding or debris flow concerns. No warning or watchers were issued, but officials say there could be some minior debris flows in areas like the Pacific Coast Highway between Point Mugu and Malibu.
