A military missile test launch is set to take place in Santa Barbara County, and it could happen before midnight Tuesday.

The Air Force is planning to launch an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The launch window is from 11:01 Tuesday night to 5:01 Wednesday morning.

It’s one in a series of ongoing test launches from the base to test equipment and crew preparedness. The last Minuteman test launch in July ended in failure, with the launch team using its destruct mechanism.

The cause of the problem is still under investigation.
