Authorities are hoping an autopsy will determine the cause of death of a Ventura County jail inmate.
Deputies say they noticed that Michael Torres was unresponsive in his cell at the county’s pre-trial detention facility Thursday night. They started efforts to revive the 61 year old Oxnard man, and called jail medical staff.
Paramedics were called, but Torres was pronounced dead at the jail facility about a half hour later.
