Authorities seized thousands of illegal marijuana plants during the third day of their sweep in rural areas of the Central Coast.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials say on Friday, detectives served a search warrant on a suspected illegal marijuana cultivation site near Sisquoc and another near Lompoc. These sites did not have any licenses from the state or the county to operate legally.

During the investigation, authorities located and destroyed more than 8,600 marijuana plants worth $4.3 million.

This brings a total for the three days of marijuana enforcement last week to more than 14,000 plants destroyed with a value of $7 million.
