A bill authored by a Santa Barbara legislator to expand paid family leave for military families has been signed into law by the Governor.
SB 1123 expands California’s Paid Family Leave Program so family members can take time off if a family member is deployed, or being deployed overseas. It allows for up to six weeks of partial wage replacement, with workers taking part receiving 60% to 70% of their salary, depending on their income.
The program is entirely employee funded. The legislation was authored by Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara.
