A museum on the South Coast went through a major facelift, and the renovated areas reopened to the public on Saturday.
The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History unveiled its new Butterfly Pavilion, Museum Backyard and Nature Club House.
"Making as much of our outdoor spaces accessible and places where people can really engage with the nature that's here. That was very important to us because we want people to get outside, experience our backyard, so they will look at their own backyard a little differently," said President and CEO Luke Swetland.
The museum spent 12 months under construction as part of a $20 million centennial project. The first phase which included extensive improvements to three major galleries opened in June.
Next year, the museum plans to restore its auditorium, which is used for events and temporary exhibits.
